About
Jennifer Glaws is a Minnesota based interdisciplinary (media and dance) artist who is steering performance experiences that push notions of space, time, and human connection. She is dedicated to the social and developmental rewards of the arts evident in her work as a choreographer, director, dance educator, and photographer. She founded Jagged Moves in 2016 with a mission to create immersive contemporary dance experiences that enrich, foster dialogue, and fearlessly explore conceptual depth.
Her movement signature harnesses incisive, sensory, and full-bodied movement. As a teacher, she fosters physical and critical inquiry across dance forms by utilizing elements of improvisation, partnering, creation, embodied practices, somatic approaches, and the sheer excitement of momentum. Her choreography has been recognized with support for presentation by The Southern Theater’s partnership program, Northeast Arts Association, Gustavus Adolphus College, and Patrick’s Cabaret, while additionally being presented at The Ritz and Lab Theaters, Bedlam, and informally in museum, gallery spaces, and for private institutions across Minnesota.
Jennifer holds a MFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, BFA in dance and photography from Arizona State University, and a post baccalaureate certificate in photography from Minneapolis Colleges of Art and Design. She served on faculty at Gustavus Adolphus College (MN), Rochester Community and Technical College (Rochester, MN). and as Artistic Director of Education for Young Dance (St. Paul). She has been selected as a resident artist for the Cowles Center: Generating Room, Studio 206: Space/Time Residency, the Soap Factory, DanceBarn (Battle Lake, MN), and Cohesion Dance Project (Helena, MT).
Her choreography has been commissioned by Gustavus Adolphus College, Alternative Motion Project, Young Dance, Northfield Dance Academy, and private institutions. Jennifer’s choreography has been presented at Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival (2017, 2019), Peck School of the Arts - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Rhythmically Speaking (Minneapolis), Kinetic Kitchen (Minneapolis), Patrick’s Cabaret (Minneapolis), 16-Feet (Minneapolis), Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) at Northrup King Building (Minneapolis), Sans Limites Dance (New York, NY), and RAD Fest - Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival (Kalamazoo MI).
